NASCAR quick hits

Some observations as the NASCAR season comes to a close.

- Kyle Busch will never win a Championship until he grows up.
- His brother was lucky to win in 2004
- Kasey Kane is the next Dale Jr.
- There will be short fields next year
- I hope Denny Halmin wins the Championship. Anybody but Johnson....and Gordon.
- I am a new Clint Bowyer fan, RCR is back...finally.
- The racing is good, the tv coverage is awful. Which is truely amazing because there was never a pre-race or post-race show 15 years ago.
- The Nationwide Series (I still want to call it Busch) is in trouble.
- I still follow it and know what is happening...but I don't watch every race like I use too. Maybe because I would rather be racing....LOL

Be safe and keep it on the road.

2010 Waterford Hills Award Winners

These are the non-championship awards given out each year at the Waterford Hills Banquet. TF American Racing decided to skip this year's banquet to save some cash for the injured racecar, a wedding, and a Saturn that decided to break bolts and smash valves. Ahhh...life.

Congrats to the winners

Lynn Bertin - Presidents Award
Lynn seems to always be the first to the track and at every event, a race or an open track day. The Leader of all the corner workers, she is one reason that Waterford Hills is a great place to be and keep us drivers safe. I do remember when she was racing herself, in a white SSB #11 Neon.

Eunice Lucas-Logan - Female Enthusiast
I had the pleasure of working with Eunice during the August Open Track Day at Waterford Hills. She knew her stuff and did it all with a smile. You can find her behind the wheel of her Miata...just not on the track.

The late Bill Gamalski - Male Enthusiast
Bill had enthusiasm like no other. He was a racer too. He passed away last December unexpectedly. He has been missed by many.

Liz Hammond - Rookie of the Year
Liz might just start kicking my butt on a regular basis next year in her SM/ITS Miata (Note as much as it pains me...Miatas go faster then Mustangs at Waterford Hills). Always a great qualifier and a smooth predictable racer. She always had the right attitude and had a smile on her face as well. Her crew (Dad and husband) kept the Miata in tip top shape and Liz will be pushing those leaders soon.

Vern Roberts - Sportsmen of the Year
I am not sure what I can say about Vern. Vern is a sportsman, a gentleman and a great asset to Waterford Hills. He had a health scare earlier this year, but he is a determined guy and was back racing in no time. It has been a pleasure to get to know Vern more and more this year working on the BoD and at racing events. He even made sure I felt welcome traveling to Mid-Ohio for the first time earlier this year. A place he really enjoys.

Dave Cordier - Gary Taylor Memorial Trophy

Note, I know that October was light on the posts but TF American Racing is committed to keeping you updated. During the off season check in about once a week. There is a lot to talk about, even in the off season.

God Bless, and keep it on the road.

Here is the article in the Automobile Magazine, now online, from my little test driving on Belle Isle earlier in August. Big thanks to Mike O. for this great, great opportunity.

Bye, Bye Rusty

Bye, Bye Rusty

Took Rusty to the scrap yard on Friday. I got more money in the scrap metal then I paid for the car. Cha-ching!
It was a fun car, but time to move on (and get my driveway back).

RIP Rusty

In the newspaper again...

I did finish 10th overall in that race. But I finished better in the other races.
I wrecked in August not July. Still its cool to be in the paper.

Overall points update!

So absolutely cool. Tom Forst finished 20th in overall points at Waterford Hills.
I did not think I was that high in the overall points, but that is definitely exciting.

Be safe, say a prayer and keep it on the road.

Some articles

This talks about the whole adventure of racing...sometimes the happenings off the track mean more then what happens on the track.

http://www.frontstretch.com/jpotts/31595/

This article is more about how NASCAR isn't racing...but there is a lot of true in it. Forget the hype, the plastic trophies, the people...other racers who you don't get along with...its about racing. You and that car, going as fast as you can go...nothing else really matters. Its really a blessing to be able to do it at all.
